Movie. One of my favorite thing. As I mentioned in my previous entry, I really really love watching movies. And among all movies, I prefer bollywood and hollywood movies the most. In bollywood, they have songs through out their films. It's not a bad thing. For me, I can get boring easily when watching movie, but when watching bollywood movie, the song itself can get me exciting. Most people can't stand when watching bollywood movies because of the duration of the movie often take 3 hours and more than that. As for hollywood movie, I like it because I can't really predict what can happen and they have really awesome movies. Plus, I can learn English too. How awesome is that!
Among all movies that I have watched, I will share with all of you one movie that change my perception about life. There are many stories like that, but the one that I'm gonna tell you is my favorite. BLACK.
I first watched this movie I think 4 years ago. If I'm not mistaken. At first I watch this movie because I am Rani Mukherjee's fan. I love her. She's so beautiful especially her eyes. So mesmerizing. And her husky voice. But as I watch further, this movie is absolutely amazing. This movie starred Rani Mukerjee as Michelle McNally, the deaf and blind women and the greatest bollywood actor, Amitabh Bachchan as Debraj Sahai, the man that will show Michelle the light.
Rani Mukherjee as Michelle McNally
Amitabh Bachchan as Debraj Sahai aka The Teacher
BLACK is inspired by HELEN KELLER's life and struggle.
Mr.Debraj use different methods, (harsh method actually) to teach Michelle and disapproved by Mr.McNally even though Mrs.McNally approved it. Mr.Debraj was asked to leave the house by Michelle's father. But as her father is out for business, Mr.Debraj continue to teach Michelle. During the time being, he struggled to improve Michelle but it give no result at all. Until Mr.McNally are back from his business, he ask Mr.Debraj to leave but before he leave Michelle said her very first word and know the meaning too. WATER.
Ayesha Kapur as Young Michelle McNally
This scene is really heartbreaking and I cry like a baby. As the story continue, we can see how Michelle struggled to improve her life. Huhu... it's so heartbreaking afterward. That's it. I don't want to tell the whole story. You all should watch this movie. I promise it will not disappoint you guys. The ending also kind of sad. Make sure to have a box of tissue when watching this movie. I warn you guys.
After I watched this movie, my perception towards handicapped person absolutely change. Before, I just feel sympathy for them. But after watching this movie, whenever I see disable person I imagine how hard it must be for them to keep on living their life. Even we as a normal person, we have our own struggle and sometimes can't handle it. But it must be so hard for them to become themselves like today. I never imagine before what if I was born deaf and blind. But now, sometimes I imagine it. Living deaf and blind is not an easy thing. Just like Helen Keller. She try hard to overcome her weakness. Over time she become a great person that can give motivation to other people. She also the very first deaf blind person to earn Bachelor of Arts degree.
Seeing their everyday struggle, I feel ashamed of myself. I once want to give up in studying because I really can't take it anymore. But, thinking about their life becoming my motivation and strength. They overcome their obstacle in life and determine to become a better person. And most importantly, the never give up. They try harder every time to success. Sometimes we as a person that has everything in life forget how much we have until we lose it. But they, they learn how how much they have with their lost. You guys should read about Helen Keller. It's so inspiring.
In this movie, I also love Mr.Debraj. How determine he is. He try his best to teach Michelle. He know that Michelle become like that because she feel frustrated with her life. A young child that can't see and can't hear must live their life in the darkness. Actually, this role also inspired from real live person. ANNE SULLIVAN, Helen's companion, teacher and friend.
Anne also attend the same school as Helen. When she was eight years old, she got an infection with her eyes and Anne nearly got blind. After that she attend Perkins School for the Blind. She was the person behind Helen's success. She taught Helen and bring Helen the light into her life.
What I get from this is we need someone to become our supporter or we can become one. Helping someone to achieve and become better in their lives is a good deed. Not everyone have luck written in their lives. We live only once. Be someone that will be remembered forever. Like this movie, Mr.Debraj will remain as a very special person to Michelle as he is the person that teach her everything. For me, I would like to be remembered as someone that give light to other people life.
Do not disrespecting other people even person with weakness. They are not weak. They try to improve their life and do not give up. Everyone have their own weakness. We don't like people look down on us so don't look down to other people. We never knew what will happen tomorrow. Like Helen Keller, she once don't even know how to write and read but with her determination, she even gave motivation speech to others. Just never give up and we can't live alone. Have someone that can share your up and down. Maybe we can tell our friend or maybe our parents. They always with us. As a human being, we cannot live alone.
Lastly, LIVE YOUR LIFE.
If we want the others to respect us, we should respect the others first. Such a lovely movie
